CASE-ing The Catty #92 – Everyday Occasions
Hello! We’re back to Everyday Occasions this week. It’s such a large chunk of the Annual Catalogue and so full of wonderful project ideas. I tend to leave my catalogue on our coffee table and often pick it up during commercial breaks on tv. The more I look, the more I see, it never gets old! Does anyone else do this or am I just weird?
Where were we? That’s right. I had a special delivery this week… goodies from the Stampin’ up Holiday Catalogue *squeal* which will be available September 1st! Oh I was SO excited when they arrived, I just had to jump in and use them! (You can tell I’m excited, there’s a lot of “!” these going on). Anyway, I’ve used this beautiful card on page 72 as inspiration for my project this week because I had a cool idea using watercolour and black – I love love love it. Ok, so that’s the Stampin’ Up card, now here is a sneak peak of the new Frosted Medallions stamp set I used …
Wow right!? Are you getting excited yet? You should be! This set is AMAZING!! So much you can do, let me tell you it’s not just for Christmas & New Years. I have made a super cool Birthday card using this very set and some hand stitching which is so hot right now. Take a look! … insert *drum roll* here haha
Ta daaa! I am so pleased with how this one turned out! I spritzed my watercolour cardstock with some water (not too much), then slapped some melon mambo and bermuda bay on a large clear block, gave that a little water spritz, then stamped onto the cardstock. Once I let that dry a good few hours, I stamped my frosted medallion & sentiment in momento black.
The next step once that was all dry, was to add stitching using SU’s gold metallic thread. To be honest, I did try a few different materials for the thread but I found the bakers twine too fragile. It’s a little fluffy and breaks quite easy. The metallic thread worked wonders though and looks fantastic. Gives the card a wonderful texture and shine too.
You might be interested to know metallic copper also looks sensational with this medallion stamp! I made this little beauty, which is actually a CASE of my first card.
If you would like a copy of the new 2016 -2017 Holiday Catalogue, just drop me a line via Facebook, email or mobile. Be sure to jump on over to the next blog in our Sunday Night hop which is the lovely and talented Bronwyn.
Thanks for looking! Don’t forget to add September 1st to your catalogue. That’s the day you can order from the AWESOME new Holiday Catalogue.
