Welcome to our Halloween special on CASE-ing The Catty. We’re taking inspiration this week from pages 50-55 of the Holiday Catalogue.  I’ve been hanging out to purchase the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set, so I finally did and that’s what I’ve used this week. CASE-ing the card on page 53 wasn’t as easy as I first thought. It took a couple of attempts to work out how the Stampin’ Up concept team got the watercolour effect on the paint drip stamp. Let me show you their card.

There’s a couple of ways to achieve this effect really; ink the stamp then spritz with water, ink and stamp on paper then spritz with water or (and this is how I believe SU have done it) – ink and stamp the drop water onto the image using the Aqua Painter. That’s the technique I used and here are my cards for this week’s challenge.

All three cards have the Aqua Painter droplets, they all just turned out so different. Pretty cool right? If you would like to CASE a card from the Halloween section of the current Holiday Catalogue, simply follow this link to upload your creation.

You may notice our blog hop this week is a little shorter than most. That is because most of us will be heading to Brisbane next week for Stampin’ Up’s 3 day OnStage Live (Demonstrator only) event. I can’t quite put into words just how exciting this is, but I can say that we’re all VERY busy in the lead up with packing & prepping to go away, getting our family ready to fend for themselves while we’re away (tell me you know what I’m saying here!?) as well as making swaps for the event on top of everyday life. That being said, we have not failed to deliver some awesome inspiring ideas for you this week – click next to see Jackie’s beautiful project or jump backwards to see Kelly’s wonderful card.

Thanks again for stopping by, be sure to monitor all the CTC design team blogs over the next few weeks for sneak peaks of OnStage fun and the upcoming Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogues! I’ll leave you with a list of supplies I’ve used this week. Be sure to add Ghoulish Grunge to your ‘Must Have’ list, you will not regret it!

Until next week, happy stamping!

  1. Great tips for the droplet effects Krissy, glad you got the stamp set you were wanting!!! love that you have recreated it in 3 colours and shown us how differently they turned out. … and yes I’m excited too.

  2. Krissy, your cards are all so fabulous. THank you so much for using this image – I’m still on the fence about getting this stamp set, but now………. It’s so good to see the processes involved in creating those fantastic projects in our catalogue!!

  3. Krissy your watercolour effect looks great! I love all the cards in the different colour tones, and the washi tape just gives them that finishing touch! Also you have used the Labeler Alphabet to perfection, I do struggle with this set at times, but love it, as it is so versatile.
