CTC Challenge #93 – Artistic Expression

CASE-ing The Catty #93 – Artistic Expression

CTC sunday Blog hop header

Hi there! Welcome to this Sunday’s Blog Hop, which happens to be the last CASE from Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalogue for a few weeks. We’ll be moving on to the fantastic Holiday Catalogue for September, which is VERY exciting!!

Tonight however, we are revisiting Artistic Expression (pages 92 – 157) of the Annual Catalogue. I really think this week’s choice for me was a little obvious. As you may have read a couple of weeks back we bought a Harley, so I was pretty keen to use One Wild Ride stamp set as soon as it came around again!

We have some friends moving from Melbourne up here to Gracemere in a week or so. They’ll actually be living just around the corner from us so I had planned to make a welcome card, but the timing is perfect with this week’s challenge. Our friends also own a Harley so there’ll be countless rides together. I even added a little of the “Neighbourhood Watch” green on the card by accident!

With the background, I put my smoky slate cardstock and Brick Wall embossing folder through the bigshot, then used a plain flat piece of rubber & smoky slate ink to create the textured brick look. This technique was taught to me by my wonderfully talented upline and good friend  Elizabeth Gross.  I used the centre square from Painter’s Palette stamp set, but you could even use a cutting from the rubber sheet the stamps are set in.

Two bikes are stamped using Memento Black & then fussy cut. The closest bike has been embossed & fussy cut. Each bike is layered on the card using glue, then dimensionals, then  2x dimensionals. The Welcome banner is glued at each end with a small slice of dimensionals holding up the centre for a nice round look.

Well, I hope our new neighbours like the card and our little town of Gracemere. It will be fantastic to have some more riding buddies in our pack! Thanks for taking a look at my project this week. Next up we have Judy and her lovely Artistic Expression inspired creation! Enjoy the rest of our hop.

  1. Wow, don’t you just love it when a card is perfect for the recipient. Thanks for the tip with the solid stamp on the bricks, I was wondering how you got that great effect.

  2. Nice work Krissy. The brick wall effect works well but your layered bikes look fabulous- and i love the little Emerald accents which don’t jump out but just add a great highlight too! Are you getting enough time at your craft desk with your new hobby???
