CASE-ing The Catty #83 – Thanks
Another week, and another great challenge! The focus this week is on the Thanks chapter of SU annual catalogue 2016 -2017 (pages 38 – 43). There were are few really fantastic images to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) from this section. Instead of choosing my favourite image, I actually went with a card I didn’t particularly connect with. Sounds crazy? Nope, this is a brilliant idea! I think sometimes it’s much easier to recreate a card you love, but it takes more thought and skill to recreate something you aren’t really fond of. Look past the colours or layout (or whatever it is that doesn’t appeal to you) and find something you can work with. So that’s what I’ve done this week, and I must admit I really love the end product!
I was interested in the catalogue image layout, but I struggled to see past the colour combination. Talking with my friend Jemma last night, she really liked the Emerald Envy & Peekaboo Peach together. Don’t get me wrong here – I LOVE those 2 new In-Colours, but not so much together in this particular catalogue image. This card is for my sister who looked after Teddy (our fur-baby) over the weekend, so I’ve used her favourite colours black, blue & silver. Basic Black, the new Dapper Denim and Silver Embossing Powder. Pretty cute hey!? Using the Aqua Painter and very little water, I coloured in the selected flowers, and I’ve also given the sentiment a little shading. That’s just a quick fussy cut around the banner, adhered with some dimensionals. If you would like to have a go at CASE-ing my card, these are the supplies I’ve used:
